Bushmans River Mouth - Bushman’s River is a paradise for fishermen, water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The river is tidal for approximately 35kms – making it the 2nd longest tidal river in South Africa. Here, the whole family can enjoy the designated swimming beaches, water sports, fishing and walks over the hills which flank the river.
Restaurants
Get to know the local fare by popping into one of the village restaurants. The Sandbar floating restaurant is a Bushman’s River icon renowned for its excellent calamari while BBG’s, with a stunning viewof the river, is also extremely popular and well-known for its Friday night musical evenings.
Beaches
The magnificent, sandy stretch of beach which runs from the river mouth to Kwaaihoek is very popular. The interesting rock formations at Kwaaihoek are unique and great to explore and the more energetic can continue westward, until they reach Dias Cross and Boknes.
Fishing
Rock and surf fishing is extremely popular along the coastline, as is deep sea angling. Boats can be launched from the slipway which is situated near the river’s swimming beaches.
Nature reserves
Take a trip to the Kariega Private Game Reserve or the Sibuya Game Reserve to enjoy an open-topped game viewing drive.
